Under A.R.S. § 13-1805, a person commits shoplifting by knowingly obtaining goods from a retail establishment with the intent to deprive the owner. The statute covers concealing items, altering price tags, transferring merchandise between containers, and charging purchases to fictitious accounts.

Penalties

  • Under $1,000 — Class 1 misdemeanor
  • $1,000 to $1,999 or a firearm — Class 6 felony
  • $2,000 or more, or gang activity — Class 5 felony
  • Using a device to facilitate — Class 4 felony
  • Two or more prior theft convictions within five years — Class 4 felony
