A.R.S. § 13-1203 — Assault


Under A.R.S. § 13-1203, a person commits assault by intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causing physical injury, by placing another in reasonable apprehension of imminent injury, or by knowingly touching another with the intent to injure, insult, or provoke.

Classifications

  • Intentionally or knowingly causing injury — Class 1 misdemeanor
  • Recklessly causing injury or placing someone in fear — Class 2 misdemeanor
  • Knowingly touching to injure, insult, or provoke — Class 3 misdemeanor

Defenses

Defenses include self-defense, defense of others, lack of intent, and consent.
